Why I make resources for young people
All things were created through him and for him […] For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through the blood of His cross.
(Colossians 1:16, 19–20)
These ideas have completely transformed my life.
It's not all about me. It's about Jesus – the King who is the centre of everything, the purpose of everything, the goal of everything. So glorifying him, and helping others to do so too, must be my goal. And I love it.
But this transformation happened for me over time and it continues to happen in my heart as God's Spirit continues to mould me into the likeness of Jesus. I'm confident now that I will continue in Jesus for the rest of my life, but I couldn't have said the same back in my teenage years. It was a crucial time that God used to mature me (slowly!) and strengthen my faith both in his goodness and the goodness of his word, the Bible.
So now I seek to use my gifts to give young people whatever I can to help them not only turn to Jesus but continue to run towards him for the rest of their lives.
I'm trying to do this not only in personal ministry in my church but also in creating resources that young people (as well as their leaders and parents) could use to make that bit easier to see Jesus as the centre and to discover the goodness of his word for themselves.
I am praying that my resources will do what this Spanish teenager describes (commenting on a video I made, talking about my book A New Freedom):
Hello Mike, I am 15 years old and recently I went to a Christian camp and although I already knew Christ, I did not live a life that reflected Him and I was ashamed of the gospel. I truly believe that when I left there, it left a before and after in me. There was a bookstall there and I found the book A New Freedom. I am now half way through and since then my life has been much more centred on Christ. It has motivated me to read the Bible correctly (and not read it without understanding anything, like I did last time with the Old Testament). I want to thank you for having written it and for living for God instead of this world. From Andorra, I will pray for you and your family.
Will you thank God with me for the way he has worked in this girl's life? May God continue to use any resources I make for his glory.
Would you please…
…with anyone you think may benefit from these resources (or thinking about why and how they are made). Even better than social media would be to send an email or message to the person with the link: mikesnowdon.substack.com
